Six let go in murder probe

SIX of seven people arrested by Limerick gardaí in connection with the murder of David Nunan last October were released without charge yesterday.

One man had his period of detention extended.

The six men and one woman were arrested early on Wednesday in Limerick city and Tipperary.

David Nunan, aged 25, was found shot dead in a laneway at Parteen village on the outskirts of Limerick on October 27.

He had been shot a number of times in the back.

Mr Nunan had been released a few days earlier after serving a sentence at Limerick prison.

He was from Southill and had connections with a local drugs gang.

Gardaí suspect he was lured to Parteen on the pretext of carrying out a burglary with others.

He was shot dead in a laneway in the centre of the affluent village.
