Committee on Curtin is ‘delayed’
The committee of four TDs and three senators held its first formal hearing yesterday and is also meeting today.
When the committee was set up in early June, its chairman, Cork South West deputy Denis O’Donovan, said he hoped it would have had its work completed by September.
However, the completion date is now certain to be later, given the fact that the Oireachtas impeachment process is charting new waters, legally and constitutionally.
Yesterday’s meeting lasted some eight hours and heard detailed submissions from Judge Curtin’s legal team, led by John Rogers SC.
