Murder hunt begins after shot Corkman dies in London
Detectives from New Scotland Yard are searching for the two men who shot father-of-one Tom Fahey in Streatham High Road, London, on June 24.
Mr Fahey, who owned Digiprint in MacCurtain Street, had been visiting his brother’s business when he was shot.
He died at King’s College Hospital in Dulwich at 12.35am yesterday. He was visiting London after recently finishing off a new family home at Greenhill, Fermoy.
His brother, Laurence, said that he had died from complications which set in after recent surgery.
“It was a wages snatch. They came in looking for wages in my business but there weren’t any there, so they just shot Tommie. It was all for nothing, they got nothing,” Laurence
Fahey said yesterday.
He had left his business for a few minutes to see somebody when the shooting happened.
“I had just popped out when Tommie arrived. I came back about two minutes later, after an assistant rang me, and I found him lying on the floor. It was very upsetting,” Mr Fahy said.
His brother underwent an operation at the Dulwich hospital last Friday, which Mr Fahey said had gone quite well.
“But there were complications afterwards. He was bleeding a lot and there were problems with his liver and it spiralled from there,” Mr Fahey said.
He added that his family, including Tom’s wife, Susan, were at his bedside when he passed away.
Police haven’t yet arrested anybody in connection with the killing. However, they are looking for two men who they believe spoke with West Indian accents.
Mr Fahey said arrangements are being made to fly his brother home for burial in Fermoy.
But he said it would probably be before the end of the week before these arrangements were finalised.
