Prime time for a tipple at charity’s tasty wine fair
The biggest event of its type in the country, the fair will showcase hundreds of wines of every style and price, offering consumers a chance to taste and sample to their heart’s content until they find the bottles that suit them best.
And there will also be an opportunity to buy any of the wines at a special, once-off discount.
The brainchild of Gary O’Donovan, the MD of O’Donovan’s off-licences, the fair has expanded rapidly during the past five years with Ireland’s growing taste for the grape.
There will be a large variety of wines on offer.
For instance, you can try champagne against other sparkling wines; compare new world Cabernet/Merlots with their equivalent from Bordeaux; and see if there really is a difference between budget bottles and more upmarket models.
For tipplers who want to really go to the top of the glass, there are four master classes (on specific regions such as Australia or Portugal) conducted by four of Ireland’s top wine experts.
There will also be displays of glassware, beers from around the world, cheese, wine accessories, wine books and much more.
Tickets, priced at €15, are available from all 13 branches of O’Donovan’s Off-Licences, the Rochestown Inn or the Cork Simon Community Fundraising Office.
