Heavy rain has significantly disrupted transport this evening, particularly in the Leinster region.

Met Éireann has issued a severe weather warning for at least the next 24 hours as heavy rain and strong winds batter the country.

WORK has started on the building of a new road at Slea Head in the Dingle Peninsula to replace a section that collapsed several months ago.

FUNDING is expected to be made available almost immediately to repair a section of the damaged road on the scenic Slea Head Drive, which has been closed to traffic following a cliff collapse.
