Flooding causes traffic chaos

In Dublin, DARTs have been partially suspended, and several roads are either closed or impassable due to flooding.

Counties Kildare, Wicklow and Laois are also badly affected.

In South Dublin, DART services have been suspended from Dun Laoghaire to Bray. Dublin Bus will honour rail tickets for the time being.

Gardaí say that N81 is impassable between Citywest and Jobstown, and there is very heavy flooding in both directions on the Naas Rd.

In Dublin city centre, James Larkin Road has been closed to inbound traffic.

In Wicklow, the Wicklow Gap and the Sally Gap are impassable, the N11 Dublin to Wexford Rd between the Kilmacanogue exit and Lil Doyles Pub exit is flooded.

The bridges on the Ballyknockan Rd and the Lacken Rd have burst their banks and gardaí are advising motorists not to make any unnecessary journeys.

In Co Laois, there is flooding on the southbound carriageway of the M7 Dublin to Limerick Road between Junctions 17 and 18.

In Co Kildare, there are problems in the northbound carriageway between Kill and Johnstown.

Spot flooding in Waterford at Tramore, and in Kerry on The Slea Head Road is also causing concern.
