A person could read every pronouncement of Kevin McCarthy (Letters, December 18) and never appreciate that Israel is in illegal and brutal military occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 1967 — the fundamental cause of the ongoing resistance.

Dr Kevin McCarthy’s [Irish Examiner, January 2] defence of Israeli policies cannot go unchallenged. 

THE fundamental objection that Prof William Reville (Letters, November 1) has to human embryonic stem cell research (HESCR) is based on his belief that at fertilisation when sperm and ovum join, a full human being comes into existence.

I FOUND it gently amusing to read Fr Con McGillicuddy’s argument for a grand design based supposedly on a ‘commonsense’ view of the annual motion of planet earth and its supposed benefits for us lucky humans (Letters, September 17).
