Gaza is a roofless prison to millions of people

Dr Kevin McCarthy’s [Irish Examiner, January 2] defence of Israeli policies cannot go unchallenged. 

The political realities of Gaza have been recognised by many Jewish commentators including the recently deceased Stéphane Hessel: “It is absolutely essential to read the report by Richard Goldstone on Gaza ... this South African, Jewish judge, who claims even to be a Zionist, accuses the Israeli army of having committed ‘acts comparable to war crimes ... crimes against humanity’ during its Operation Cast Lead.”

As for Gaza, it is a roofless prison for one and a half million Palestinians.
