US secretary of state Hillary Clinton issued a parting warning about Syria’s civil war, accusing Iran of playing an increasingly prominent role in directing the violence.

Syria warned of a possible “surprise” response to Israel’s attack on its territory and Russia condemned the air strike as an unprovoked violation of international law.

Syria threatened today to retaliate for an Israeli air strike and its ally Iran said there will be repercussions over the attack.
