Departing Clinton issues parting Syria warning

US secretary of state Hillary Clinton issued a parting warning about Syria’s civil war, accusing Iran of playing an increasingly prominent role in directing the violence.

Mrs Clinton said Iran’s involvement heightened the danger of a larger regional conflict drawing in Israel or other neighbours.
