Organisation: Sundays Well Swimming Club

A COMPREHENSIVE SERIES OF ARTICLES ON THIS TOPIC

Funds leak at pool

COULD somebody (preferably Cork City Council and city manager Joe Gavin) please explain the justification for erecting more than 20 bollards in the car park of Douglas swimming pool and advise how much it cost.

City politicians should back pool funds drive

WE are pleased with the decision by Cork city council not to proceed with the privatisation of Douglas swimming pool.

Pool promises must be honoured

AS THE parent of a young member of Sundays Well Swimming Club in Cork, I wish to express my concern over the uncertain future of Douglas pool.

Children will lose if pool is privatised

AS A teacher and a member of Sundays Well Swimming Club I wish to express my opposition to the proposed private/public partnership deal that the Lord Mayor of Cork and others are advocating for the Gus Healy pool in Douglas. Under the new curriculum guidelines for physical education in schools, aquatics are regarded as an integral part of the development of the child.

City council must keep the pool for the people

I AM ANGRY over the proposed closure of Douglas swimming pool in Cork. A costly ‘feasibility study’ concluded that the pool was not viable and that it should be transferred to a private concern, with the council giving a lease of over 100 years.
