The wife of convicted drug dealer John Gilligan has sacked the legal team which had been representing her in the action by CAB relating to the receivership of the Jessbrook equestrian centre in Meath.

THE Supreme Court will hear later this year an appeal by convicted drug dealer John Gilligan and other members of his family aimed at preventing several properties owned by them, including the Jessbrook Equestrian Centre in Co Meath, being handed over to the state after a High Court finding that they are the proceeds of crime.

THE High Court yesterday gave the go-ahead to the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) to take over the management and maintenance of five properties owned by convicted drug dealer John Gilligan and his family.

A JUDGE yesterday ordered that photographs of the former equestrian centre owned by the wife of convicted drug dealer, John Gilligan, should be taken today or on Monday to ascertain its condition in advance of a High Court hearing next week into whether a receiver should be appointed to take the property over.

The application by the Criminal Assets Bureau for an order to seize Jessbrook Equestrian Centre owned by the family of John Gilligan, has been put back for two weeks.

John Gilligan has lost his legal bid to have a court hearing dealing with the confiscation of his assets adjourned.

The Special Criminal Court has given the go ahead to the Criminal Assets Bureau to seize assets owned by John Gilligan, subject to a legal challenge.
