I’m really struggling to process something my teenager told me recently. They’ve come out as non-binary and have asked me to start referring to them using they/them pronouns. 

I’ll admit, I’m finding it difficult to wrap my head around it. I’ve always thought of them as my daughter, and this sudden shift feels like I’m losing something.
