Fair City actress Kiara Noonan is calling on the public to support the Irish Cancer Society’s children’s Christmas appeal.

The mum-of-four’s son Oscar, who is nine, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2023 and has since been receiving chemotherapy treatment, which is due to be completed by May 2026.

Donations to the appeal will help provide support for families like hers that have been affected by childhood cancer.

In 2024, the money raised helped more than 175 families avail of financial support, more than 50 families took time out at therapeutic recreational camps, and more than 25 families attended bereavement camps.

It also funded counselling sessions, night nursing care and art and play therapy.

Labour of love

The former Ireland AM presenter Síomha Ní Ruairc may have stepped away from the breakfast TV show but the 32-year-old, who is expecting her first child in January, is not about to slow down.

She has recently launched a podcast mini-series, Labour of Love, with Síomha Ní Ruairc.

According to a survey by the pregnancy and baby charity Tommy’s, 86% of women feel overwhelmed by the amount of pregnancy information they are bombarded with and in her podcast, Ní Ruairc aims to identify what parents-to-be really need to know.

Over the course of six episodes, she speaks to experts including a pregnancy dietitian, psychologist, midwife, exercise professional, and a solicitor who outlines maternity and paternity employment law in Ireland.

The first two episodes are out now and available wherever you get your podcasts.
