6.10am: I’m already on the train, commuting from my home in Cork today to the Dublin office. I’ve brought breakfast — yoghurt and fruit with nuts and seeds — with me. I try to eat a high-fibre diet as it’s been shown to reduce the risk of bowel cancer.

8.30am: I arrive at Heuston Station and walk to the HSE National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) office on Parnell St. Exercise reduces the risk of developing bowel and other cancers, but it can be difficult to fit it into a busy life, so I try to work physical activity into my day. Walking is an easy way to do this.
