Sarah Millican Hijacks Deal or No Deal (Ch4, 8pm)

Cast your minds back to autumn 2005, when Channel 4 unveiled its latest gameshow, and revealed that it involved a member of the public opening boxes at random, while host Noel Edmonds occasionally halted the proceedings to have a one-sided phone conversation.

Be honest, it didn’t exactly sound like a formula for ratings gold, did it?

Yet Deal or No Deal turned out to be much more addictive than anyone could have predicted, and 10 years later it’s still on our screens.

Now, to celebrate the show’s anniversary, comedienne Sarah Millican takes on the presenting duties, as Noel finally gets a chance to play the game himself.

Will a decade of chatting with the Banker give him the edge as he tries to win up to £500,000 for his chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West.

Pussies Galore: Love Me, Love My Cat (Ch5, 8pm)

For some people, being a cat lover doesn’t stop at making a fuss over their one beloved pet, or watching videos of funny felines online. Instead, their love of all things cat-related has taken over their homes, their lives and in one particular case, their bodies.

This documentary meets some true cat fanatics, including a California woman who lives with over 1,000 adopted local strays.

Back in Britain, we meet the West Country woman who has restricted herself to just 18 moggies, but has amassed a vast collection of ribbons and rosettes that her pets have won at cat shows.

Plus, there’s the Lancashire charity shop manager who has 40 feline-related tattoos, and cameras take a trip to Newcastle’s first cat cafe.

Rick Stein: From Venice to Istanbul (BBC2, 9.30pm)

The chef’s gastronomic road trip reaches a conclusion as he arrives in Istanbul, just in time for the bluefish season, which allows him the chance to enjoy a fishing expedition on the Bosphorus, one of the world’s most strategic waterways, which divides the city into two continents.

Rick also cooks two much-loved local dishes – lavish kofte kebabs with pistachios, and kapuska, a hearty traditional Turkish cuisine stew from the Black Sea region, whose name is derived from the Russian word for cabbage. Last in the series.

Celebrity Big Brother (3e, 10.30pm)

Highlights of all the latest events inside the house as celebrities from the UK and USA take part in the ultimate CBB battle. Expect excitement and drama from the get go as the Brits and the Yanks come head-to-head in a trial of tasks, challenges and twists.

Lovelace (Film4, 10.40pm)

(2013) In 1972, Linda Lovelace, born Linda Boreman, became an overnight sensation as the star of hardcore adult film Deep Throat.

Audiences flocked to this seedy tale and it became a box office sensation, thrusting pornography firmly into mainstream culture. Lovelace worked the interview circuit to keep her star in the ascendancy and penned two salacious memoirs to sate public interest in her private life.

However, a sequel to Deep Throat flopped and she drifted out of the spotlight until the 1980 publication of the book Ordeal, which levelled accusations of physical abuse and intimidation against her first husband, Chuck Traynor.

Directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman dramatise Lovelace’s meteoric rise in this lovingly crafted biopic, in which she is played by Amanda Seyfried.

People Time (BBC3, 11pm)

This sketch show, part of the Comedy Feeds strand, features seven writer-performers from various different comedy acts, brought together in one super group.

There are siblings Natasia and Jamie Demetriou, Australian stand-up Claudia O’Doherty, character comedian Ellie White, and Alastair Roberts, Liam Williams and Daran Johnson, who formed sketch troop Sheeps.

The material is about everything and nothing, but stand-out sketches include a pop video featuring two petrol-obsessed eastern European girls, a hassled modern woman who misunderstands spam emails, and a rant at some anti- Page 3 protestors.

Silent House (Channel 4, 12.30am)

(2011) Chris Kentis and Laura Lau co-direct this English language remake of the South American psychological thriller The Silent House (La Casa Muda) by Gustavo Hernandez, based on a true story that took place in a small village in Uruguay.

The film purports to be shot in a single uninterrupted take to heighten the illusion of real terror in real time.

Sarah (Elizabeth Olsen) and her father John (Adam Trese) agree to renovate a cottage she hasn’t seen for years. Following a visit from her uncle Peter (Eric Sheffer Stevens) and a childhood friend, Sarah settles down for the night with her old man so they can make an early start on the work.

They are are woken in the night by strange noises and John goes downstairs to investigate. Sarah waits patiently for him to return but as the seconds tick agonisingly by, she must venture into the darkness to discover the secrets of the old house.
