Jamie Oliver’s eldest daughter Poppy Honey, 24, has become engaged to her boyfriend Ben Newman.
The celebrity chef’s wife Jools announced the news on Wednesday as she shared a photo of the moment Newman got down on one knee at a beach.
She wrote: “Our first baby Poppy Honey is getting married. We are so excited, proud and happy. Ben we all adore you.”
Jools, 51, whose real name is Juliette, said Poppy and Ben met when they moved in next door to each other at university.
She wrote: “Little did I know as we moved Pop into her second house at university, whilst I was sweating over your shoe rack flat pack, you seemed very distracted with the boy who had just moved in next door.
“Five years later you had met your soul mate. So excited for the next chapter.”
Jools shared other photos on Instagram of the couple together and one of Poppy showing off her engagement ring.
She also uploaded a video of the Oliver family celebrating the engagement in their kitchen, surrounded by balloons.
Oliver’s mother was among those who commented on the video, writing: “Love this so much, it was such wonderful news, made me cry. Love them both.”
Oliver and his wife have been married for 26 years and, along with Poppy, are parents to Daisy, 23, Petal, 17, Buddy, 15, and River, 10.
Oliver rose to fame on the BBC Two series which premiered in 1999.
He later owned his own restaurant group, which went into administration in 2019, and he has published more than 30 books.
