Rapper ASAP Rocky has confirmed his wife Rihanna is working on new music.

The 38-year-old Barbadian singer last released an album a decade ago with 2016’s critically acclaimed Anti, but has since released a small number of singles including Lift Me Up from the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Friend Of Mine from the Smurfs movie.

Speaking on The Jason Lee Show, ASAP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, said: “She is in the studio right now, yeah, I said it, sorry babe.

“She cooking, bro, no funny shit, yeah, damn, I’m going to get in trouble for this.”

In the time since her last album, Rihanna has given birth to two sons and a daughter with ASAP Rocky.

Elsewhere in the interview, ASAP Rocky, 37, was asked whether he would ever consider making a collaboration album with his wife.

He replied: “I would hate Rocky and Rihanna if we both did that, that’s trash, nobody wants to hear us together bro.

“I make subversive, weird ass indie rap, like I got a cult following, bro… the music that I make is for a niche demographic of people who actually get this shit… I make music for pretty boys, I make music for people that is misunderstood, I told you, like Tyler The Creator.”

There has been rumours that Rihanna’s forthcoming ninth LP will be a reggae record, however she dispelled the idea in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last year.

Rihanna, whose real name is Robin Fenty, said: “There’s no genre now, that’s why I waited.

“Every time, I was just like, ‘no, it’s not me, it’s not right. It’s not matching my growth. It’s not matching my evolution. I can’t do this. I can’t stand by this. I can’t perform this for a year on tour’.

“After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears.

“It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait. I cannot put up anything mediocre.”

Beginning her career in 2003, Rihanna is best known for songs such as Umbrella, Shut Up And Drive and What’s My Name?
