Simpsons creator explains why cancer is “the most amazing experience of [his] life”

And reveals why he's giving his fortune to charity.

Terminally ill Simpsons creator Sam Simon has described cancer as “the most amazing experience of [his] life” and explains why he’s giving his fortune to charity in a recent interview with NBC's Maria schriver.

“It’s everything that everybody always tells you. It’s a journey, it’s a fight. But, if you want publicity and you want to pick up girls, then cancer is the greatest thing in the world”.

Simon has made the claim as he feels his illness has allowed him to spend vast amounts of time with his closest friends and family as well as donate his fortune to a good cause.

He goes on to say that since the Doctors told him "his scans are the scans of a dead man" he is the "happiest he has ever been" as he has found himself surrounded by people that love him, care for him and will do anything for him.

"It's a good feeling … that's called happiness"

His sense of humour towards his illness and positive philanthropic attitude stands out throughout the interview which you can watch below.

Since his diagnosis in 2012 Sam has created the Sam Simon foundation in assocation with the 'Save the Children' program and so far is helping feed 400 families a day in the Los Angles area.

His passion for animal rights has also seen him donate and work extensivley with PETA in a series of animal liberations.
