Zach Bryan, the breakout country star whose heartfelt lyrics have drawn comparisons with Bruce Springsteen, rolls into Páirc Uí Chaoimh on June 20 and 21 as part of his massive international With Heaven On Tour.

The Oklahoma native will play to huge crowds each night — a remarkable rise for an artist who performed to just 1,500 fans at Dublin's Helix Theatre only two years ago. But who exactly is Zach Bryan?

Where it Began:

Zach Bryan’s emergence in country music is one of the genre’s most compelling success stories. Rather than following the traditional route of major-label backing or camping out in Nashville, Bryan built a loyal audience independently while serving in the US Navy.

He first captured attention by sharing raw, heartfelt performances on social media, where his honest songwriting and distinctive voice struck a chord with listeners. In 2019, he released his debut album, DeAnn, a deeply personal tribute to his late mother that showcased his remarkable gift for storytelling.

His popularity grew steadily before Heading South, a raw acoustic video, went viral, amassing millions of views. The release of American Heartbreak in 2022 propelled Bryan into the mainstream, earning widespread critical acclaim and commercial success.

Since then, a string of chart-topping albums, sold-out tours and high-profile collaborations have cemented his status as one of the most influential artists in contemporary country music.

Call of Duty:

Long before sold-out arenas and chart-topping albums became part of his life, Bryan was serving in the US Navy. Born in Japan while his father was stationed overseas, Bryan grew up surrounded by a strong family tradition of military service. At 17, he followed that path by enlisting in the navy, embarking on an eight-year career that would profoundly shape both his character and his music.

The realities of military life provided the emotional foundation for much of his songwriting. Listeners can hear echoes of those experiences in his songs, which explore themes of loneliness, resilience and longing.

The honesty that runs through tracks such as Heading South, Oklahoma Smokeshow and Something in the Orange has become one of his defining strengths. By the time he left the navy to pursue music full time, Bryan had already begun turning personal experiences into powerful stories that resonated far beyond his own life.

Set in his Ways:

Bryan has a complicated relationship with fame; quite simply, he doesn’t seem to like it. He has spoken about wanting to avoid recognition, a difficult position for an artist with millions of fans. In response, he has taken breaks from social media and limited press appearances to protect his privacy and keep parts of his life out of the public eye.

He also has a complex relationship with genre labels. Bryan has expressed a desire to be seen primarily as a singer-songwriter rather than a country artist, although he is still largely framed within the country tradition.

Despite comparisons to a young Bruce Springsteen, he remains firmly placed under the country umbrella. He has had occasional public spats with other country artists, which, depending on perspective, have added to his reputation for independence and refusal to conform. Like many young artists, he has had one minor brush with the law.

Team Player:

While Bryan’s music is often associated with solitary reflection and deeply personal storytelling, collaboration has played an important role in his rise to stardom. Over the past few years, he has worked with a range of artists, creating songs that feel authentic rather than commercially calculated.

His biggest collaborative success came with I Remember Everything, a haunting and beautiful duet with Kacey Musgraves that topped charts and earned widespread critical acclaim.

Bryan has also teamed up with Maggie Rogers on Dawns, blending folk, indie and country influences to striking effect. Spotless with The Lumineers shows his appreciation for roots-driven songwriting, while collaborations with Noah Kahan and The War and Treaty demonstrated his ability to cross genre boundaries without losing his identity.

Bryan gravitates towards artists who share his commitment to emotional honesty and meaningful lyrics, proving that some of the most memorable music is created when like-minded musicians join forces.

Time is Money:

When it comes to turning talent into serious revenue, few country artists can match Bryan’s recent success. The singer-songwriter emerged as the highest-earning country artist of 2025, driven by a blockbuster $350 million agreement with Warner Records that included the sale of his publishing catalogue and a contract extension.

The deal marked a significant moment in Bryan’s career, reflecting both his commercial appeal and the long-term value of his songwriting. According to reports, the agreement alone generated an estimated $48 million in personal earnings.

Away from the negotiating table, Bryan continued to dominate the live music scene. His Quittin’ Time Tour generated almost $160 million in gross revenue from October 2024 onwards.

Add in music sales and streaming income, and Bryan earned more than $20 million outside of his record deal. No doubt 2026 will be a bigger earner as the revenue from With Heaven On Tour rolls in.
