RTÉ has confirmed the return of the popular psychological reality TV show on August 30. Here’s everything you need to know.
The new season of will be streamed on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player and will return to our screens on Sunday, August 30.
RTÉ confirmed that much-loved actor and host of the show, Siobhán McSweeney, will be returning as host, serving her striking fashion looks, dry wit, and theatrical flair.
Once again, Slane Castle will be home to the contestants taking part in this year’s season, making for the perfect setting for deception and skullduggery.
based on the Dutch series De Verraders, features a group of contestants who stay at the historical Slane Castle and participate in a social deduction game reminiscent of Mafia or Werewolf. The contestants are divided into two groups: the traitors and the faithful.
The traitors are the small handful of contestants secretly chosen to work together to eliminate the faithful contestants without being discovered. Their goal is to survive until the end of the game and claim the prize money.
Meanwhile, the faithful are the remaining majority of contestants whose job it is to work together to identify and vote out the traitors. They aim to banish all traitors to win the prize fund.
Each night, the traitors meet to decide on one faithful contestant to ‘murder’ and remove them from the game. The following day, the remaining contestants find out at breakfast who has been ‘murdered’ and later that evening, participate in a roundtable discussion to vote out a contestant they suspect to be a traitor.
The faithful and traitors will be battling it out to win the prize pot of up to €50,000 this year.
Kevin McGahern is back as host of an after-show which dissects all the cloaked chaos of each episode, and features ‘murdered’ contestants once they leave the castle. airs directly after on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
