Liza Minnelli to host celebrity parties for reality TV series

Liza Minnelli and her husband David Gest are to star in a 'musical reality TV' series for VH-1.

The weekly series Liza And David is set to premiere in October.

It will feature the couple hosting lavish celebrity parties in their New York home, with guests giving performances specially for the show.

VH-1 says the series will give a personal, private look at celebrities "in a new and exciting way."

Liza and David's intimate dinner parties will feature an eclectic mix of celebrity friends, musicians, actors and actresses, sports heroes, authors and other luminaries in the couple's Manhattan penthouse.

MTV and VH-1's president of entertainment Brian Graden said: "With their recent star-studded wedding and her critically acclaimed worldwide concert tour in the headlines, Liza and David are one of the most talked-about and celebrated couples in the world.

"We asked them if they could provide a window into the centre of their whirlwind, and they look forward to giving VH-1 viewers a new kind of inside look at the showbiz lifestyle."

Christina Norman, general manager of VH-1, added: "Liza and David will be a reality show like no other, full of unexpected moments and VH-1 attitude."

David Gest said: "We are very excited about the series and hope to let the public see some wonderful talent perform in a very intimate setting each week.

"We both love every type of music from hip hop and pop to country and rock. We plan to introduce our viewers to great music from every genre."
