EACH of the jerseys worn by Manchester United team mates at the testimonial match for Irish captain Denis Irwin at Old Trafford in August 2000 will come up at a sale entitled The Eclectic Collector at Whyte’s in Dublin on September 20. They are from a private collector living in Dublin.

The 17 jerseys are embroidered “Denis Irwin Testimonial Game” above the Manchester United Crest.

Marking the Corkman’s long and successful career at Manchester United each one is signed by players including Paul Scholes, Phil Neville, David Beckham, Gary Neville, Teddy Sherringham and Roy Keane. Whytes are guiding the lot at €3,000-€5,000.

The auction of more than 800 lots features around 30 lots of high-quality soccer memorabila relating to players as distinguished as Eric Cantona and George Best.

Meanwhile, an Irish travel poster featuring an Aran Islander making a crois by the Dutch graphic designer Guus Melai is including alongside travel posters designed by Paul Henry and film posters including Goldfinger. A collection of campaign boxes includes a fully kitted surgeons instrument box. The sale will be at the Freemason’s Hall, Molesworth St, Dublin with viewing at Whyte’s from September 17.
