Weekend wine with Blake Creedon

TWO wineries plus three cities equals a surefire treat for wine lovers this month: The most promising wine events in the autumn line-up (so far) have to be the tastings in Cork, Dublin and Kilkenny featuring wines from Langmeil in the Barossa region of Australia and Huia in Marlborough, New Zealand.

And there are lots more events, including a German-style beer festival in Cork (see page 26). I have details of all the following and many more events up on my blog at /blakecreedon.wordpress.com.

* Emma Shaw of Australia’s Langmeil Barossa Winery is coming to Cork and Dublin to host portfolio tastings on September 15 and 16 respectively. She’ll be telling Langmeil’s story, intertwined with that of the Barossa, and leading a tasting across the full range from Langmeil. The greatest authority on Australian wines, James Halliday has rated the entire winery a perfect five-star rating for the seventh consecutive year. The tasting takes place in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork, on Thursday, September 15, at 7.30pm, and again on Friday, September 16, from 7.30pm in Donnybrook Fair. Bookings at www.curiouswines.ie.
