New to the market in the sought-after dairy-dominated part of East Cork is a 22-acre parcel of top-quality land.

“It’s a beautiful bit of ground – good road frontage,” says selling agent Michael Barry of Fermoy-based Dick Barry & Son. “There are two fields – one in tillage and one in grass, and they’re both of the best quality with no waste. They’re as good as you’re going to get anywhere.”

The holding is at Mohera, just under 2km from Castlelyons village and about 10km from Fermoy. With the Cork-Dublin motorway 5km or so from the property, its accessibility means that there will be a wide range of potentially interested parties for this quality piece of land.

The price guide of €20,000/acre is, considering how prices have gone recently in the area, a fairly conservative one. However, the market itself will determine its value over the coming weeks.

“It’s not under offer yet,” points out Michael, “but it’s very early days so far… you couldn’t find a fault with this piece of ground.”

Although dairying dominates in this part of the world, there’s no shortage of tillage farming either and the area is especially rich in the equestrian tradition. With its roadside position, there’s no doubt that some interested parties will be eyeing the possibility of building a house on it at some future point.

“Aside from hobby farmers or those with an equestrian interest, it’s a place that will interest dairy farmers expanding their holding too,” says Michael.
