Beef price slide may be bottoming out as supply tightens

There is more of a mix of prices being offered to suppliers this week, amid reports that the processors are finding the acceptance of their lower offer very challenging, writes Martin Ryan

While some of the factories have dropped their official base quotes for steers to 710c/kg, the belief is that most of the processors are having to maintain prices at last week's run of 720c/kg to get the cattle.

There is more optimism among beef finishers this week that the consistent slide in prices for several weeks may be at or close to hitting the bottom.
