Tirlán launches weather support package for its suppliers

Tirlán are providing their suppliers a weather support package for purchased feed to avoid farmers using winter feed reserves.
The support applies to qualifying products ordered between July 10 and August 5, 2026, before 1pm or until the available tonnage is exhausted.

Continued dry weather conditions and reduced grass growth have increased the need for farmers to purchase feed and conserve forage.

Tirlán Co-operative is introducing a weather support package for its suppliers to offset the impact of the current dry conditions on grass growth and milk production.

The package offers immediate support of:

  • €40 per tonne rebate on GAIN dairy feed.
  • €10 per tonne rebate on Irish rolled cereals.
  • €3 per tonne rebate on straights.
  • €20 per tonne rebate on fertiliser purchases.

The support applies to qualifying products ordered between July 10 and August 5, 2026, before 1pm or until the available tonnage is exhausted. Products must be delivered on or before August 8, 2026.

The supports are available to all Tirlán milk suppliers with no cent-per-litre (cpl) spend requirement. Rebates will be credited to qualifying customers' trading accounts in September 2026, and reasonable usage limits will apply.

The co-op has implemented the support package in an effort to maintain herd performance, sustain milk output and protect winter feed reserves.

Tirlán’s advisory teams will also be working with suppliers to provide advice on grassland management, feeding strategies and fodder planning.

Chief agribusiness officer at Tirlán, Ailish Byrne, said: “The recent dry weather has placed significant pressure on many dairy farms, with grass growth slowing and reliance on supplementary feed increasing.

"This package will help farmers respond to those challenges while preserving valuable winter fodder stocks. Our advisory teams are also working directly with suppliers to provide practical guidance on grassland management and nutrition over the coming weeks."

Tirlán chairperson Ger O’Brien said: "As a farmer-owned co-operative, supporting our members through challenging periods is at the core of what we do… This package reflects our commitment to standing alongside our suppliers and helping them navigate current conditions with confidence."

Tirlán milk suppliers are encouraged to place their orders now through their local Tirlán branch, their business manager, or online via the TirlanFarmLife website through the “My Account” portal.
