Dairy co-operative Dairygold has announced the appointment of JP McGrath as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Mr McGrath joins Dairygold Cooperative this week. Previously, Mr McGrath served as both CFO and Chief Operational Officer at Bord na Móna. Mr McGrath succeeds Dairygold Chief Executive Michael Harte as CFO.

Commenting on JP McGrath’s appointment, Michael Harte said: “On behalf of everyone in Dairygold, I welcome JP to the organisation. JP’s experience in financial, commercial and operational management makes him an excellent addition to our Senior Leadership Team. His experience will play a critical role in driving our business strategy, to build a stronger, more resilient and sustainable Dairygold.”

Mr McGrath worked with Bord na Móna for five years prior to his appointment in Dairygold and played a key role in helping progress the company’s ‘Brown to Green’ transition from peat harvesting to a fully renewable energy and waste recycling business, delivering several years of record profitability for the company.

Mr McGrath also held senior positions, including chief financial officer of Norbrook Laboratories and senior roles at Aryzta, including managing director of its €1bn turnover European and Asia-Pacific division.

Earlier this month, the co-operative announced a turnover of €1.4bn in its most recent accounts, an increase of €10.6m year-on-year.
