Leadership awards for 35 dedicated members
The gala awards banquet took place in the Radisson Blu in Limerick, and was attended by more than 200 people.
In all, 13 gold awards were presented, along with 17 silver, and five bronze.
The training focused primarily on officer skills and strategic planning.
Officers were provided with the skills required for county officer positions such as chairperson, secretary, treasurer, and public relations officer, and with advice on organising club events, as well as details on competitions, club development, sports and social initiatives, and opportunities for travel.
Gold, silver, and bronze awards were presented to officers in recognition of their work over previous years.
Macra national president, Seán Finan, who presented the awards, said: “Macra’s leaders are recognised for being organised, enthusiastic, young people who make an impact on their clubs and communities. Well done to all 35 leaders recognised”.
A gold award is the highest level that can be secured by a Macra county officer, and makes that person eligible to be considered for a Macra National Leadership Award or to participate as a Macra representative on a number of overseas seminars including the European Rally for rural young people.
Among the gold award recipients were Marie Murphy of Cork’s Avondhu region, Joan Marie Healy of the county’s Muskerry region, Emma Flynn from South Tipperary, and William Wright and Eilish Ahern of the Seandún region.
Limerick member Emily Sexton also took a gold award as did Michael Tobin of South Tipperary.
Eoin McCarthy and Bríd Cooney from Cork’s Avondhu region both took silver, as did North Tipperary members Catherine Maher and Meabh Campion, as well as Shane Randle from Kerry, Claire Holland from Limerick, and Mark Geaney from Cork’s Seandún region.
Conor Quinn from South Tipperary was among those who took home a bronze award.
