THE Turners Cross guild, from Cork city, led a nomadic existence for six months, while their usual venue, at Christ the King church, was being renovated.

The guild have returned to the venue, where work has been completed, and held their long-awaited annual general meeting there, on October 9. The honorary guest was Marie Buckley, south Cork vice-president.

Elections: president, Elizabeth Frost; vice-president, Lena Creamer; honorary secretary, Carol Delaney; treasurer, Theresa Ahern; council representative, Kay Scott; ban an tí, Ann Connolly; PRO, Pat Mahon.

A programme was organised at the meeting. The guest speaker for the November 13 meeting is Richard Henchion, the author of The Land of the Finest Drop, a history Ballyphehane, Togher, the Lough, Pouladuff Road, and Friar’s Walk.

On November 20, Daphne Owens will demonstrate how to make Christmas decorations; on December 5, Christmas dinner will be held; on December 11, ‘party night’ will be held.
