Holding comes with mud and stone dwelling

IN case we needed to be reminded where we came from, Kehoe’s are selling a 14-acre holding at Laurelstown, Clonard, Co Wexford, which includes the remains of a mud and stone dwelling.

It’s a unique opportunity to buy, says Barry Kehoe, but the poor peasants who lived in the old bothán would never comprehend the €500,000 asking price.

The irony is, of course, that their descendants will now see the opportunity for a site for a single, large house - even further evidence of how far we’ve come in economic terms in three generations.

The property is about three miles from Wexford town and has access directly off the ring road at the Whitford House roundabout. But the farm is almost completely secluded, says Barry Kehoe, with no sound of traffic and no visible neighbouring properties.

Laid out in five divisions, the land is accessed by a right of way.
