Glanbia bosses get 20% pay rise

THE directors of consumer foods and agribusiness group Glanbia got a 20% pay rise last year.

Total pay for the 21 executive and non-executive directors was €2.73 million, up from €2.29m, the company’s annual report for 2004 shows.

Salaries for the four executive management team increased by €373,000 to €2.3m. The part-time non-executive directors shared €419,000.

Managing director John Moloney received a €117,000 increase in his salary and benefits. Mr Moloney, who has been in the top job for nearly four years, was paid a basic salary of €399,000 and a performance bonus of €221,000.

When pension contributions and other benefits are lumped in, Mr Moloney earned a total of €748,000 in 2004.

Deputy managing director Billy Murphy received a total of €488,000, up €38,000.

His package consisted of a basic salary of €230,000 and a bonus of €135,000. Mr Murphy was paid other emoluments of €123,000.

Finance director Geoff Meagher was paid a total package of €489,000, up from €431,000.

Development director Kevin Toland got the highest increase of the directors - a €160,000 rise - bringing his total package for the year to €594,000.

Group chairman Tom Corcoran was paid €73,000 in fees, while the other non-executive directors were paid between €8,000 and €50,000.
