Charleville Show will be held on a 45-acre site and will cost over €130,000 to stage. Kerry Agribusiness is the main sponsor.

Highlight of the 19 dairy classes will be the Maverick All Ireland junior pedigree cow championship, confined to second calves.

The beef section will have 48 classes for various breeds including Limousin, Belgian Blue, Charolais, Simmental, Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and commercial, as well as qualifiers for national championships.

Entries from the 32 counties are expected for the sheep section on the second day of the show, which also enjoys a big reputation for horses and ponies. There are 42 classes for ponies and 30 for horses, plus show jumping including a Super League Grand Prix with a €4,500 prizefund.

Show chairman Gerard Cott, announcing details of the show at Charleville Golf Club yesterday, said the organisers of the event are proud to have the leading dairy and beef herds listed among the exhibitors.

The show has a balanced programme of showing classes, various attractions with a broader public appeal, entertainment, trade stands and family interest activities including a major health and beauty showcase this year with RTÉ presenter Caroline Morohan.

The show will also have sections for agriculture, horticulture, arts and crafts and cookery. A vintage rally a trade display, a pets corner and entertainment will also feature.
