The decision to get rid of the Seanad from the Oireachtas is a big one, and one that will greatly affect everyone in the country.

I am appalled by the hysterical reaction of the Fine Gael members of Cork City Council to the Cork Rebel Week brochure.

The imprecision of Dr Piaras MacEinri (Irish Examiner, Sept 27), who headed a UCC study into recent Irish emigration, is strange. He “warned against using the findings to back the idea that emigration was mainly a lifestyle choice, as Finance Minister Michael Noonan claimed”.

Your report (Sept 27) on emigration, based on a UCC study, shows large losses of recent graduates.

Again, we have a major report on climate change and, yet again, nobody will mention ‘the elephant in the room’.

The Taoiseach was asked on RTÉ radio whether or not the Fine Gael party would survive the difficulties in government. He said the Fine Gael brand was strong and would survive.

Here comes the Monsanto mantra again: we cannot feed 7bn people without GM crops.

Cows milk themselves in the 21st century.

The continuing refusal of this Government to deal fairly with survivors of symphysiotomy now stands exposed (Sept 26).

As we enter the final days of debate on this irresponsibly-rushed referendum, the contributions of all politicians should be disregarded.
