A brand or a party?

The Taoiseach was asked on RTÉ radio whether or not the Fine Gael party would survive the difficulties in government. He said the Fine Gael brand was strong and would survive.

Does Fine Gael see itself as a ‘brand’ rather than as a political party with an ideology? A Senate made up of 50% wise people, without political affiliation, would be a welcome and important counterpoint to a single house legislating within the confines of the party whips.
