The price of a barrel of oil has dropped from over €100 to less than €50 in the past year.

My friend and colleague, Fergus Finlay, penned some generous words about me in his column Tuesday last.

Your article ‘Lobbyists slow to disclose details on database’ (Irish Examiner, October 26) misunderstands the requirements of the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015 and therefore presents an inaccurate image of the level of preparation and compliance with the act.

Michael Healy Rae TD says he doesn’t want any changes made to the Angelus. Well at least he’s keeping up the centuries old tradition of the Catholic church that is not changing and adapting.

The most important issue facing the State is not housing policy. It is the threat to democracy from a political party that appears hellbent on installing a totalitarian system of government not dissimilar to mafia states in the eastern EU.

Each year we see Hallowe’en decorations and merchandise in shops and even restaurants and hotels something similar to the garlands and lighting for Christmas, usually in orange and black and looking as ghoulish as possible.

I often wonder if climate change is just another delusion.

Olivia Kelleher (‘Abortion bus controversy’, Irish Examiner, October 26) reports that Ruth Coppinger, TD, has expressed her disgust at the pro-life protesters who chanted as she made a speech when the abortion bus rolled into Cork.
