Your phone could help with motion sickness
The investigation has managed to track down the root cause of the symptoms of motion sickness in the brain, and deals with it by administering a small electric shock to the scalp. In tests this has the effect of resetting the brain and reducing the feeling of sickness and nausea associated with the issue.
Three out of 10 people will experience some kind of motion sickness in their lives so this would be a major breakthrough. The researchers are planning to make this technology available in pharmacies all over the world and also hope that the device could be shrunk down to be a part of a person's phone. In that case you would just attach an electrode to your scalp before travelling and set off the shock via an adaptor on your headphone jack.
That sounds pretty crazy right now, and what will it do to our phone battery - but if it helps to ease the suffering of millions of people a small shock would be a very minor price to pay.
