Google Pixel 11 launch: Everything we know about the new Gemini-driven hardware

I wasn’t able to attend the live launch event in person, but the virtual pre-briefing provided a clear look at where Google is heading with its latest hardware. While I haven't had any time to actually use these devices yet, the technical specifications and feature reveals suggest a significant shift towards an experience defined by deeper Gemini integration.
The announcement focuses heavily on how the new Tensor G6 chip will drive AI. It isn't just about raw speed; the focus seems to be on an upgraded TPU designed to handle complex photography and much more responsive, on-device AI tasks.
The core of the new smartphone lineup appears to be a substantial hardware update. Google has introduced a new design with an edge-to-edge glass camera bar and a soft-touch matte back. The Pro models see an upgrade in screen quality, featuring Super Actua displays that can reach a peak brightness of 3,600 nits.
The camera remains the primary selling point. The introduction of "Magic Capture" is something I am keen to test, as it aims to capture both video and high-quality photos simultaneously.
For those who need to get close to distant subjects, the jump in zoom capabilities is notable. While the standard Pixel 11 offers a 30x Super Zoom, the Pro models are pushing much further with 120x Pro Zoom. This relies on the improved ISP in the G6 chip and new software models that will require a manual download to work at full capacity.
The Pro XL also stays at the top of the range with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB storage. For creators, the "Creator Suite" includes tools like a teleprompter and an audio visualiser, which could be quite useful for mobile video production.
The foldable continues to evolve within the ecosystem. Based on the briefing, it will share some of its siblings' core camera strengths, including the 30x Super Zoom. The goal here seems to be bringing more of the flagship photography experience to a larger, more versatile canvas. It will be interesting to see how the Tensor G6 manages thermal efficiency when running much larger, more complex apps on that inner display.
The wearable side of the launch is equally ambitious, particularly regarding health monitoring. The Pixel Watch 5 comes in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, both featuring a new Actua 360 Domed Display that is significantly brighter, reaching up to 3,000 nits.
The most striking changes are in the "Google Health" ecosystem. Google is moving towards much more detailed wellness tracking. I noticed mentions of new features like breathing emergency detection, which can alert emergency services if it detects a drop in oxygen levels during sleep. There are also new trends for monitoring insulin resistance and blood pressure patterns.
The software side has been updated with "One-handed Gestures," allowing you to use a double pinch or wrist turn to interact with the watch when your hands are full. The integration of Gemini on the wrist is also much more prominent, especially with the new "Raise to Talk" functionality. While I am waiting to see how the battery life holds up under heavy GPS use, the promise of 15 minutes of charging providing a 50% boost is certainly a welcome addition for anyone prone to forgetting to charge their watch overnight.
