Jony Ive promoted to Apple's chief design officer
He revealed his new role in an interview with Stephen Fry. He said that the newly created role will involve spending more time overseeing the design of the companyās growing number of stores. Ive will still have overall control of the look of Appleās products and their user interface.Richard Howarth, who played a lead role in shaping the iPhone, will take over as head of industrial design. Alan Dye, who designed the menus and navigation on the new Apple Watch, will become head of user interface.Ive said that his two right-hand men are "as good as it gets." Together, they will be in charge of developing the look and feel of Appleās upcoming products. Apple said that Ive will now be able to focus more on "current design projects, new ideas, and future initiatives.ā What lies in store is anyoneās guess.
