Employers, recruiters, estate agents and enterprise agencies in Kilkenny are attending a free event promoting a wealth of career opportunities in the city.

Social media influencer and TV presenter, James Kavanagh, and his food entrepreneur and artist partner, William Murray, take centre stage for the ‘Live, Work, Visit, Invest Kilkenny’ showcase at Kilkenny’s St Canice’s Cathedral on Saturday, November 7, from 10am to 1pm.

James and William will share their personal experience of rewarding and alternative ways to live in and work from Kilkenny as part of the free event.

The couple left the bright lights of James’ native Dublin over two years ago for the tranquillity and simplicity of country living and working from the outskirts of gorgeous Graiguenamanagh in rural Kilkenny.

James said: “My advice to anyone contemplating a move is to talk to people who have done it and we’re only delighted to chat at the event to people contemplating it. They are the people who give you the real temperature. For us, it hasn’t been a struggle at all.”

James said they’re looking forward to sharing their honest experiences with a captive audience gathering in Kilkenny for the free event showcasing the job and lifestyle opportunities in The Marble City they’re already revelling in. Employers, recruiters, estate agents and agencies supporting enterprise in Kilkenny will all be on hand.

“We would do it all over again in an absolute heartbeat. Everything fell into place for us,” James said of the couple's move to Kilkenny. "

Work hasn’t been impacted at all since we moved; hybrid working models mean you can now work from anywhere. Our fibre broadband is actually better than it was in Phisborough and I get to Dublin when I need to go there faster than friends get across London.

“We’ve the best of both worlds here and in our downtime, we love exploring the walking trails, the myriad of honesty boxes with fresh local produce and eggs and the farmers markets."
