Architect Tony Reddy has been appointed as chair of Property Industry Ireland (PII), the Ibec group that represents the property and construction sector.

The chair and founder of Reddy Architecture + Urbanism, he brings significant experience to his role as the new association chair.

Mr Reddy spent the past four decades working withing the property industry. He has been a Council member of PII for over 15 years. He is also a former president of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI), a former chair of the Academy of Urbanism and a member of the Irish Cities 2070 Group.

“As chair of Property Industry Ireland, I want to expand the range of PII’s research activities and foster greater interaction with both government and private sector stakeholders,” said Mr Reddy. “Ultimately, my goal is to help build a property sector that works alongside Irish society and government to deliver a sustainable and equitable built environment for all citizens.

“As an architect, the opportunity to interact with colleagues from diverse backgrounds through PII has given my team and me a much broader understanding of key trends and developments across the industry.”

Mr Reddy said that it is an honour to take on the role of chair of Property Industry Ireland at such a pivotal time for the sector.

Since its establishment in 2011, Property Industry Ireland has become the most influential and respected cross-sectoral property organisation in the country. Its strength and resilience are based on the wide range of skills and deep professional experience of its membership.

This facilitates the development of robust policies, tested by extensive analysis and critique, to support a clear vision for a dynamic, sustainable, and progressive property sector.

David Howard, director of Property Industry Ireland, added: “I am delighted to welcome Tony Reddy as our new chair at a really important time of our sector. Over the last number of years, we have seen strong intent from Government and policymakers when it comes to addressing the barriers to critical infrastructure and housing delivery.

“The next phase is about accountability to ensuring all parts of the system are delivering on the progressed promised. Tony’s profound understanding of urban design, planning, and sector-wide policy makes him uniquely positioned to lead PII through this important next stage.

“Having served on the PII Council for over 15 years, his strategic insight will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for a sustainable, vibrant, and forward-looking property and construction sector in Ireland. I look forward to working closely with him to address the key opportunities and challenges facing our industry.”
