Popular Cork city tattoo studio Love Hate Social Club has announced its closure after eight years in business, citing challenges posed by the "rising costs of doing business."

The tattoo studio was established by world-famous US-Israeli artist Ami James, who opened the French Church Street shop as part of his Love Hate chain which also has studios in Miami and London.

Well-known for his appearances on the TV Show, Miami Ink, Mr James also runs another tattoo studio, Five Points, in New York City.

In a social media post on Wednesday, the Cork parlour said, "With immense gratitude and sadness, we announce the closure of Love Hate Social Club after eight remarkable years as part of Cork's vibrant community."

"The decision comes amidst the challenges posed by the rising costs of doing business. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the loyal customers who have passed through our doors, and all of the friendships we have made along the way."

The studio added that it will close its doors permanently on Wednesday, February 7th.

Love Hate Social Club is the latest to join the running list of Cork businesses to close in recent weeks and follows announcements from jewellery and clothing store, Bauhaus and long-standing convenience chain, Twilight News.

Also in January White Rabbit Bar and BBQ on MacCurtain St announced it would be closing its doors for the final time on February 4th after nine years in business, joining fellow restaurants Nash 19 on Princes Street, Tung Sing which operated on St Patrick's Street for 60 years, and Pigalle, which operated on Barrack St for just over five years.

"Your support has been a staple in all of our success," Love Hate continued.

"As we bid farewell, please know that this support has meant the world to us. It's been an honour to be part of Cork's story."
