New figures show residential property prices rose nationally by 7.1% in the year to October.

The Central Statistics Office says this compares to growth of 4.4% in the same period last year.

In Dublin - prices jumped by 5.5% - while residential property prices in the rest of the country saw an increase of 10.2% in the year to October.

The Midland region witnessed the fastest growth rate of 16.6%.
