EU Commissioner on two day visit to Ireland
Data protection and the development of a Digital Single Market are just two items up for discussion during a two-day visit by EU Commissioner Vera Jourová.
The Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality will meet Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald (pictured) - and take part in an IBEC hosted meeting with senior tech industry representatives.
IBEC's Head of Digital Policy, Eric O'Donovan says it is a unique opportunity: "In Ireland the digital economy is worth around €12.3bn to our economy and there is over 100,000 people employed in the digital sector here.
"In that context we want to meet the commissioner to highlight Ireland's digital economy, we are 8th in European digital development, but we can't be complacent."
