Road Haulage Association calls for Government response to Calais

The Irish Road Haulage Association is calling on the Government to take action, following yesterday's chaos at Calais port in France.

Hundreds of migrants tried to jump onto lorries as they queued outside the docks after the French port was closed in a dispute involving ferry staff.

Security has increased today, while searches are being scaled up both sides of the Channel.

The IRHA is calling on the government here to speak to authorities in France and the UK, to highlight what it says is the escalating threat to Irish international truck drivers travelling through Calais.
