The companies which operated concessions at Clerys say they are owed between €2-3m, and have valuable stock inside the premises.

SIPTU sector organiser Teresa Hannick said that they were also told that all of Friday's takings were to be left in the tills.

"I do understand that the concessionaires all across the store on Friday were advised by the security - whoever came in there on Friday evening - that all monies that were in tills had to be handed over to...whoever was in charge there on that day," she said.

"There's a considerable amount on money, even from our members in the concessions, they would say that there was a considerable amount of money that was taken off them."
