Almost 600 new jobs have been announced today in Cork and Waterford.
260 of the jobs are coming on stream at financial services firm SouthWestern in Little Island, while 300 food sector jobs have been announced on the back of the Food Academy initiative - which aims to help start-up firms enter the local market.
An additional 30 jobs are on the way to Waterford at medical device company, NuVasive.
Speaking about the Food Academy, the Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, said "it's a great story about a large retailer working with small food producers, that initially gives them access for 12 weeks to local stores."
"It teaches them how to present, improve packaging, and essentially build business plans around quality food products."
