Children's Health Ireland has said a review into rods used in some scoliosis patients is "near completion" after criticism from families who said they learned of the product recall through the media.

Children’s Health Ireland has been criticised for failing to communicate with the parents of children with severe scoliosis about a particular type of titanium spinal support rod, which may now need to be removed.

Almost 600 new jobs have been announced today in Cork and Waterford.
