Govt announces €40m investment for beef farmers
€40m is to be invested in Irish beef farming.
The Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, says the package of measures will support the Irish suckler sector.
Up to €23m will be spent on a genomics programme, with €10m for the Beef Data programme.
The rest of the cash will be spent on the Beef Technology Adoption programme and residual payments.
Beef exports were worth more than €2.1bn last year and it is hoped this figure will continue to grow.
