Facebook to lose 80% of users by 2017, say researchers

New research estimates that Facebook will eventually suffer a catastrophic decline in users.

The study by Princeton University compared the growth of the social networking site to a disease which it says will eventually come to a quick end.

It is estimated the site could lose up to 80% of its peak user base between 2015 and 2017.

"Like the bubonic plague, Facebook will eventually come to an end," writes Eric Markowitz of Vocativ.
